On October 1, 2024, Tower of Dread was announced, a mini-expansion for the web3 trading card game Gods Unchained. I'm JFA, promoter of GU Masters, and I'll tell you below All the details essential elements of this release.
What does Tower of Dread bring to the Gods Unchained universe?
The background Tower of Dread is that darkness continues to spread through Eucos and the components of Band of the Wolf advance towards this location to face formidable dangers. After the "cosmic horror" of Dread Awakening, the Gods Unchained team now brings us content clearly inspired by the "Gothic horror" in which we will not miss werewolves or vampires, for example.
This mini-expansion is composed of 40 new cards, including seven Legendary cards (with their seven Mythic Variants), and cosmetic items (two trinkets and two boards). This time the seven Legendary cards are also known as "sovereigns". All Tower of Dread cards can be viewed in the buying guide (you'll find it a little later).
What are some ways to get Tower of Dread packs?
Booster packs for this expansion can be obtained from Two ways:
- On the one hand, Buying them.
- On the other hand, through the premium game mode Sealed.
Tower of Dread Boosters will not be part of the Weekend Ranked rewards.
What are the envelopes like?
The Envelopes that will be on sale they are of three types: Booster ($1.99), Premium ($19.99), and Shiny ($199.99). Shiny packs multiply the chance of getting a Mythic Variant by 125 and there are some that can only be obtained in this way (The Dread Lord and Levicus, specifically). The minimum quality of the cards contained in Shiny Packs is Shadow.
As for the Exclusive Sealed Game Mode Reward Packs, will only contain Meteorite quality cards. Of course, the Hortuk Mythic Variant, Risen Juggernaut is reserved for this type of pack, as well as the Enchanted Grove board.
In the Official Buying Guide You will find all the details:
How long will it be available?
It will be available during 28 days (4 weeks from October 10, 2024) or until the packs are sold out. This applies to both purchasable packs and booster packs that can be obtained as rewards in Sealed.
How to get the Tower of Dread cosmetic items?
Let's first look at the Trinkets:
- As for the trinket "Dread Portal", you get one unit for every 200,000 Dread Points.
- And for every $1,000 spent on Tower of Dread booster packs, you get a copy of the trinket "Dread Automabunn".
And the Boards?
- Ronellan Ballroom: it is achieved by collecting the complete mini-expansion, receiving a number of units depending on the quality of the collection (1 x Meteorite, 2 x Shadow, 5 x Gold and 10 x Diamond).
- Enchanted Grove- Cosmetic packs obtained as a reward in the Sealed premium game mode.
Dread Points? What is that?
Earn Dread Points allows you to benefit from a discount, which can go up to a maximum of 35%, when buying Tower of Dread packs.
The way to get Dread Points is to destroy expansion cards and these points expire once Tower of Dread packs are no longer available for sale. The discount can only be applied once, so the most efficient way to take advantage of it is to destroy the cards to get the maximum discount and apply it to a single purchase.

According to TMCNET News, Tower of Dread not only gives continuity to the Lore of Gods Unchained as the battle against Thaeriel progresses, but also begins to laying the groundwork for true interoperability between Immutable games. Thus, at the end of this expansion, players will try to defeat Thaeriel, expel him from Faenar and force his retreat to Elderym, where he is seen in a trailer for Guild of Guardians (GOG). This connection marks the first step towards the full interoperability of a gaming ecosystem.
To celebrate the launch Gods Unchained will promote different Events & Activities, including:
- A pre-launch alternate reality (ARG) game for the community.
- Exclusive character reveals with content creators.
- A post-launch expansion tournament.
- Collaborations with associated guilds and search platforms.
