Can I earn income with Gods Unchained?

Gods Unchained - Modelo p2e - GU Masters

Is it possible to make money playing GU?

GU represents a new paradigm in the world of video games. Not only does it offer entertainment, but it aspires to become the maximum exponent of the P&E (Play and Earn) model. The mechanics are simple: By playing the game, you will get rewards and you can monetize them .

Please note that Gods Unchained is a game, not a way to make a living … Its main virtue is that its players own their assets, which means they can buy and sell them.

Right now it is possible :

  1. Play and Earn daily (which makes it possible to earn $GODS, the game's token).
  2. Participate in competitions (Weekend Ranked, which is official, and all tournaments organized by the gaming community.) Tournaments can have prizes in cryptocurrency (to be exact in $GODS, the token of Gods Unchained) as well as packs or single cards.
  3. Accumulate non-NFT cards, and other in-game assets such as Flux and Stars . To learn more about Flux and Stars, go to the corresponding questions in this document.
  4. Buy and sell NFT cards on Immutable X (IMX), the official Immutable marketplace, or on Token Trove (transactions occur on IMX, but the interface is friendlier for many users).
  5. Transform non-NFT cards into NFT cards (through the Forge) to sell them.

The "NFT cards" nuance is important, as in GU there are two types of cards :

  1. No NFT cards , which are those you start with (every player has a Welcome Set) or the ones you get every time you level up (and which belong to the Core Set). These cards are not NFTs, so they cannot be sold or bought until they become NFTs (you can learn more about this in the question "What is the Forge?").
  2. NFT Cards , which are those that belong to expansions. These cards can be purchased at the time Immutable releases a new expansion or on IMX (to other players). Its quality will always be meteorite or higher (you can learn more about this in "What types of cards are there in GU?").

Since June 2022, the strike $GODS(for more details, see the question "How do I stake?").

In the future Maybe we'll see more options... Other Web3 games include options such as:

  1. Pool of cards for rent.
  2. Systems Scholarships (scholarships) through which one player gives cards to another and shares the benefits that the receiver of the cards generates by playing.
  3. Etc.

Is the referral program active?

No, the referral program is either active right now (it was for a while, this was the GU Masters referral link ).

GU Economic Ecosystem Fundamentals: Asset Types

As we have already seen, GU proposes a new paradigm in the field of gaming : the concept Play to Earn (p2e). As a result, GU has created an economic ecosystem, and it's worth taking a moment to familiarize yourself with the "assets" that make it up .

At the moment There are the following assets :

  1. Assets that are not pegged to the Ethereum blockchain, that only exist in the GU universe, i.e. they cannot be taken out of the game (at the moment they can only be obtained by playing, they cannot be purchased):
    1. Cards in NFT.
    2. Stars.
    3. Flow.
  2. Assets that are pegged to the Ethereum blockchain , and which therefore exist inside and outside GU (and can be bought and sold):
    1. Tokens Non-Fungible , which are NFT cards.
    2. Tokens Expendable , which are used to make payments (they are cryptocurrencies). Specifically, $GODS, directly linked to GU, and $IMX, which is indirectly linked to GU... that is, it is the own cryptocurrency of Immutable X (abbreviated as IMX), the Immutable marketplace where the game's cards are bought and sold.

If the "crypto" universe is new to you, all this will not be too intuitive to you. Perhaps the next example help you understand it better.

Imagine you visit a casino. To play you will have to exchange money for tokens (tokens). Here's what you'd do when buying $GODS. So far, of course, right? Now imagine that for performing certain actions (say, playing roulette, poker, and blackjack within three hours) you were given points redeemable for casino merchandise (these points would ultimately be another type of token with a different purpose).

Obviously, GU has nothing to do with a casino, but this is an apt analogy for you to understand that Different types of assets coexist in the game (both by their nature and purpose), including tokens linked to the Ethereum blockchain.

Most of these assets you can get Playing and winning games , as reflected in this infographic designed by AnimoKaiman:

Gods Unchained - Player Rewards Infographic

Cards as an asset in GU: not NFTs and NFTs

Whereas, as we have seen, GU is a trading card game (TCG or Trading Card Game cards, are the main asset type in your universe. At GU everything revolves around the cards , are the basis of their existence.

In GU There are two types of cards:

  1. No NFT : cards that belong to the Welcome Set and the Core Set.
  2. NFT : cards belonging to the Welcome Set and Core Set that have been converted into NFTs, as well as cards from expansions.

How do I know which cards I can buy and sell? Differentiating Non-NFT and NFT Cards

When you start playing you will have your Welcome Set. As you play, you'll also get cards from the Core Set. All of those cards are no NFT , i.e., they are not linked to the blockchain. However, it is necessary to note that there are NFT versions of them, that is, they can be converted into NFTs.

The NFT versions of cards in the Welcome and Core collections come from:

  1. Purchases at the Star Store.
  2. The Forge.

Let's see now How to Differentiate Non-NFT and NFT Versions from the cards from the Welcome and Core collections.

In the case of the Welcome set , non-NFT cards have a gray background, while NFT cards have a colored background (pictured, NFT on the left and non-NFT on the right):

Gods Unchained - How to Differentiate NFT Cards from the Welcome Set

In the case of cards in the Base Collection ( Core Set ), you have to check if they have a lock. If they do, they are not NFTs.

Gods Unchained - How to Differentiate NFT Cards from the Core Set

As for the Expansion Cards , indicating that they always have, at least, meteorite quality (i.e., they are always NFTs).

Is it possible to convert non-NFT cards into NFT cards? Yes, it is possible through the Forge

The Forge is GU's system for transform non-NFT cards into NFT cards .

To do this It is necessary to have the following assets:

  1. Two units of the same card, which will become an NFT card.
  2. Flow.
  3. $GODS.

How does The Forge work?

Here's a detailed explanation: "The Forge is operational again!" .

How is card value determined?

In the case of GU, the value of the cards depends on supply and demand. In addition, two additional factors need to be considered: the rarity and quality of the cards.

The rarity of cards in GU

Yes, the cards can be common, rare, epic y legendary . You can differentiate them by looking at this strip of the card (from left to right: common, rare, epic, legendary):

Gods Unchained - How to Differentiate Cards by Rarity

The quality of the cards at GU

As you know, there are non-NFT cards and NFT cards . NFT cards are categorized into different qualities (their in-game functionality is the same, but decks built with NFT cards provide higher rewards in Play & Earn): Meteorite, Shadow, Gold, and Diamond .

It is possible to "merge" cards through the Forge to get higher-quality versions , following the following scheme:

Gods Unchained - Card Forging Scheme

What card collections or expansions are there?

As we have mentioned, all players have access to two collections: Welcome Set (immediately) and Core Set (as you get new packs from this collection as you level up.) In addition, there are the following expansions:

Year Number Guy Total Cards
2018 Genesis Expansion 377
2019 Etherbots Mini-Expansion 16
2019 Core Expansion 329
2020 Trial of the Gods Expansion 150
2021 Divine Order Expansion 194
2022 Mortal Judgement Expansion 197
2022 Light’s Verdict Mini-expansion 12
2022 Winter Wanderlands Mini-expansion 20
2023 Band of the Wolf Mini-expansion 38
2023 Tides of Fate Expansion 142
2024 Dread Awakening Expansion 132
2024 Tower of Dread Mini-expansion 40
2025 Fallen Age Mini-expansion 56
2025 Guardians of Elderym Expansion 76

By the way, it is important for you to know that Genesis is a special expansion .

How can I find out which collection or expansion a card belongs to?

Using the icon that you will find in its upper right corner :

Gods Unchained - How to Differentiate Cards by Expansion

When will the next expansion be released?

Check the latest updates on this website, you will usually find all the details about the releases announced by the Gods Unchained team.

Can Gods Unchained cards be modified by Immutable?

It is necessary to differentiate between Two scenarios , depending on the collection/expansion a card belongs to:

  1. On the one hand, we have the collections made up of non-NFT cards (Welcome and Core). These cards can be modified at any time (even if they have been transformed into NFTs through the Forge).
  2. On the other hand, we have the letters of the Expansions . When a new expansion is released, it opens a "Balance Phase" that should last between 60 and 90 days (but this is not always the case). In any case, the team can extend it at its discretion. There is a commitment on the part of GU that these cards will be "immutable" once the balancing period is closed, they will no longer be able to undergo changes in their operation.

The Raison d'être In this balancing phase, there is a sufficient testing period to ensure that a new expansion does not have negative effects on the balance of the game, i.e. that there are no excessively powerful cards.

How important is this? The truth is that it is very important because Card Modifications Affect Card Value . That is, imagine that you buy a card today and tomorrow they modify it... it is something to keep in mind.

When will the Balancing Phase of the current expansion close?

This period lasts for four weeks from the expansion's release date, extendable for an additional four weeks. From there, the cards are immutable.

Besides cards, what other assets exist in GU's universe?

Now that we've looked at the role of cards, both non-NFT and NFT, it's time to explore the other types of assets that exist in the game. As you may remember, with the following:

  1. Assets that are not linked to the blockchain : Stars y Flux.
  2. Assets that are linked to the blockchain : $GODS and $IMX

Flux and Stars (non-blockchain assets)

The Flux: what is it and how can I get it?

The flow is one of the assets of the game . It is achieved by winning games in the Gauntlet of the Gods (see "How Do I Get Flux"?) and will serve, among other things, to forge cards.

The tool to get Flux is the Gauntlet of the Gods (Gauntlet of the Gods, known to many as the "Flux Wheel"). It zeroes out every 24 hours, and when you win your first match of the day in Ranked mode, you'll unlock the god you played against. With that god you can accumulate a maximum of three victories (additional victories will not give you Flux). Two adjacent gods will have been unlocked in the Gauntlet of the Gods, and you'll need to play as any of the unlocked gods to continue accumulating Flux. The higher your rank, the more Flux you will accumulate.

You can see a English language explanation in the following video:

The Stars: what are they and how can I get them?

The Stars are one of the assets of the game . They are obtained by playing and are used to buy cards in the Star Store. In the future they will have additional uses, such as participating in specific game modes (Sealed Mode).

For every game you play, you'll earn Stars. The system takes into account its duration and its outcome (longer games and wins translate into more Stars).

Cryptocurrencies: $GODS and $IMX (blockchain-linked assets)

There are two fungible tokens pegged to GU. One directly ($GODS) and the other indirectly ($IMX).

What is $GODS?

Gods Unchained - Gods token

$GODS is a token issued by Immutable and pegged to GU. For practical purposes It is a cryptocurrency (It is a fungible token, that is, one that can be used to make payments).

$GODS serves for :

  1. Crear cartas NFT - Combined with Flux, $GODS allow you to convert your non-NFT Welcome and Core cards into NFT cards using the Forge.
  2. Buy NFT cards : The $GODS can be used to buy on Immutable X (and on Token Trove, of course).

And also will serve to :

  1. Invest : By staking, you lock your $GODS to earn rewards (if you want to learn more about crypto staking, you can do so in this article published on Binance Academy: "What is staking?" ).
  2. Governance : $GODS holders will actively participate in making decisions about the future of $GODS (it is expected that Immutable will consult the community on a regular basis on the $GODS usage policy).

How can I get $GODS?

It is possible to obtain $GODS by buying them in exchanges (it's available on Coinbase, OKEx, and FTX, as well as SushiSwap... Coming soon to other exchanges ) or by participating in certain events (i.e. playing and winning GU matches) .

Do you want to check their quote? You can do this on CoinMarketCap, for example:

https://coinmarketcap.com/es/currencies/gods-unchained/

Players who started playing a while ago benefited from two airdrops, depending on the size and rarity of their card collection taking into consideration the Genesis and Trial of the Gods expansions. More details here:

https://support.godsunchained.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402671576591

What is $IMX?

$IMX token

$IMX is a token issued by Immutable and pegged to its Immutable X (IMX) marketplace. For practical purposes It is a cryptocurrency (It is a fungible token, that is, one that can be used to make payments).

In relation to GU it will be used to:

  1. Pay trade fees on Immutable X (IMX) ; that is, to pay commissions for the purchase and sale of letters and other GU assets. If you have a balance of $IMX, you can deduct the amount of the commissions from there. If not, don't worry... The platform will perform this conversion automatically, for you it will be a simple, agile and fluid experience.
  2. Buy NFT cards - Your $IMX balance is valid for purchases on Immutable X (and Trove Token).

How can I get $IMX?

The purchase of IMX is possible from the September 8, 2021 :

Do you want to check their quote? You can do this on CoinMarketCap, for example:

https://coinmarketcap.com/es/currencies/immutable-x/

How can I withdraw my Immutable X tokens?

The process of withdrawing tokens such as $GODS or $IMX is straightforward, but Keep in mind what:

  1. Once it gets underway, cannot be canceled .
  2. To transfer balance from zkEVM to your MetaMask wallet you will need to have enough ETH balance in MetaMask to pay the gas fee (this depends on Ethereum, not Gods Unchained).

The Steps to take would be the following:

zkEVM Immutable => Metamask (you pay a fee) => Exchange (like Coinbase, for example... you also pay a fee) => you exchange it for EUR (or whatever currency, and you pay a fee) => you withdraw it to your bank (you pay a fee)

You can do this through Immutable Toolkit , where you'll find other tools to make a Bridge direct (such as Laywerwap).

How do I send tokens from an exchange to my account on zkEVM Immutable?

The process is, basically, the inverse to sending tokens from your zkEVM Immutable account to a exchange .

In case you're sending ETH , for example, simply select the option to send funds to your MetaMask wallet and, once received, from your MetaMask wallet to your zkEVM Immutable account. You will have to pay the corresponding fees for the gas consumed in these two transactions (with the balance in your MetaMask wallet).

If you are sent any tokens that you have not previously registered in your MetaMask wallet , you'll need to add it manually: "How to display tokens in MetaMask" . You may also need to register the zkEVM Immutable network. This is likely to happen to you with both $GODS and $IMX. If you don't add it, your backgrounds will be there, but you won't be able to see them.

How do I stake?

First things first. If you're not entirely clear What is the strike , it is worth reading this article to find out more: "What is the strike" at Bit2Me Academy.

In Gods Unchained the strike will play a Key role , both in its economic model and for governance purposes. Since June 2022, a transitional solution has been available that we could describe as "pseudo- strike “. All the details here: “Offering of the $GODS: pseudo-staking en Gods Unchained” .

Daily Play and Earn

The Play and Earn daily in Gods Unchained has been active since June 2022 and makes it possible for players to Win $GODS , the game's token, by winning games.

Link to the section on Daily Play & Earn on the page Official Website de Gods Unchained: “What is daily Play & Earn” .

How does daily Play and Earn work?

By meeting the right requirements, every victory you achieve will provide you with points, called "fragments" . These points will be applied in the corresponding formula to determine your reward. The fragments are calculated using a formula that considers two modifiers: game modifier ( Gameplay modifier ), which takes into account rank and wins, deck modifier ( Deck modifier ), which considers the quality of the cards used. If you want more details on this, I recommend this blog post from Gods Unchained: “Daily Play & Earn update: reward calculations” .

Once the day ends and the number of fragments for the day is final, the following is applied to each player Formula for calculating the reward in $GODS which corresponds to:

Your $GODS reward = (your shards / total shards from the player community) * Total available $GODS

What are the criteria for earning rewards in the Play and Earn daily?

The criteria that are taken into consideration are the following:

  1. Quantity of wins in the first ten games of the day (no victories there is no reward). Important: The first three wins generate twice as many shards, and win streaks also count positively.
  2. Rank of the player.
  3. Quality of the cards that make up the deck (or decks) you have used.

Where can I find information about my rewards in Daily Play and Earn $GODS?

You will find a complete Control Panel in the game client.

Do I have to do anything to receive my $GODS?

Yes, this is a manual process: You must claim them from your dashboard .

Buying and selling cards at GU

In this section you will find information related to buying and selling cards in GU.

Where can you buy and sell cards?

What do I need to do to buy cards in Token Trove? How can I deposit Ether?

If you're using Immutable Passport, it's very simple.

If you are using any other supported wallet, such as MetaMask, you should follow the steps below:

    1. Link your portfolio Metamask .
    2. Perform a Ether deposit in immutable zkEWVM, by transferring it from your Metamask wallet.

Does it cost anything to buy Trove Token cards?

If you are using Immutable Passport there are no gas costs for the transaction. However, it is necessary to take into account the fees that apply for royalties and for each market. In total, it is around 9%.

More details in this article: “Fees on Immutable X” .

I have bought a card, what do I need to do to use it?

When you buy a card on IMX or Token Trove must be available immediately in the game client..

    If not:

    1. Check your transaction history to make sure the transaction was successful.
    2. Flush the cache (see question How do I flush the game client cache?).
    3. Play a game in "Ranked" mode.

If after 24 hours If your new cards are still not showing up in the game, it is recommended that you contact the official GU support service.

Is it possible to buy card packs from expansions that are no longer available for sale, such as Genesis or Trial of the Gods?

No, it's not possible, are sold out . However, you can find cards from any expansion (and all others) in Trove Token.

How can I check my transaction history?

You can resort to Immutable Blockchain Explorer (just enter your MetaMask wallet address and it will show you the results.)
