As I told you a few days ago, a new expansion is about to land in the Gods Unchained universe: "New expansion! Mortal Judgement comes to the Gods Unchained universe" . And, as usual, this new expansion brings us New gameplay mechanics , which is always a breath of fresh air.
By now you probably already know what the new keywords that Mortal Judgement brings us mean. However, if you still have any questions or have been a little disconnected from the current situation of this game, read on and take note of what is coming... Because below you will not only find the corresponding explanation about how each keyword works, but also my personal assessment in this regard .

Echo, Empower, Tempt Fate: three new gameplay mechanics that come from Mortal Judgement
Let's look at these three mechanics one by one .
ECHO
What does it consist of?
Playing a creature with this effect spawns another creature (default) in your hand Souless with 1 mana cost and 1/1 stats.
Official Video envelope ECHO :
Assessment
"Eco" is a powerful mechanic that enriches the game and, on a personal note, I like it. Of course, it's very easy for this mechanic to translate into excessive advantage, so the Gods Unchained team will have to keep a close eye on the cards with this keyword to make sure they're not too unbalanced.
Empower
¿ What does it consist of?
When playing a card with this keyword, you can choose to either (1) play it with its base mana cost and base effect, or (2) play it with a higher mana cost and a more powerful effect.
Official Video envelope Empower :
Assessment
I don't know what you'll think, but "Empower" is a mechanic that I'm excited about. Why? Because it adds flexibility when designing decks, since cards with this keyword are characterized by their versatility. After all, they can add value in the early stages of the game (i.e., it's harder to have a hand with cards you can't play until you unlock more mana) and also in the later stages (when you need more powerful cards). Of course, that extra flexibility should never be free, and as a result, the Gods Unchained team will need to make sure that these cards are playable without becoming the default choice for any deck.
Tempt Fate
What does it consist of?
When playing a card with this keyword, you can choose between two options. Option one consists of the guaranteed application of an enhancing effect ( Buf f), while option two consists of the application of the aforementioned enhancing effect and an additional one (cumulative to the previous one); however, in the second case there will be two possibilities: that both effects are applied or neither of them.
Official Video envelope Tempt Fate :
Assessment
"Tempting fate" is a mechanic that adds a dose of randomness that is dispensable, in my opinion... not to say undesirable. The reason is that in any TCG, and Gods Unchained is no exception, chance is always present and that is inevitable. However, the more weight chance has, the less important the player's skill is and that can make the game lose interest from a competitive point of view.
Echo, Empower, Tempt Fate? Which one do you prefer?
I'm sure you prefer one of these mechanics over the others, Which one is your favorite? Or maybe there's one that arouses your misgivings? Let me know via Twitter or, of course, on the official Gods Unchained Discord server.
