By now you are probably already aware that on March 28 Band of the Wolf will be released , a new 38-card mini-expansion that's going to change everything. I'm JFA, promoter of GU Masters, and I'll tell you my first impressions below.
Discovering an unprecedented Eucos thanks to Band of the Wolf
The background of Band of the Wolf takes place in an area of Eucos unexplored until this moment and focuses, specifically, on Raneko . This small village is preparing to withstand a siege and has put its trust in Band of the Wolf, a group of mercenaries willing to do anything. According to the Gods Unchained team, it will be the first time that the Lore has been worked with so much depth, deepening the links between all the characters in the plot and giving an extra level of depth to the story.
After advancing the identities of the 7 members of The Band of the Wolf, today 36 of the 38 cards that make up this mini-expansion have been made public (to discover them you just have to visit the corresponding section on the official website of Gods Unchained: Band of the Wolf ). In addition to new cards, other new features are introduced in the game. Let's look at them.
Key information about Band of the Wolf
We still do not know the marketing and distribution format, but that is not an impediment to begin to analyze the Possible impact of this content in the Gods Unchained universe. A few quick ideas:
- The 38 cards are dealt as follows: 8 neutrals and 5 for each domain (i.e., for each god).
- What is most abundant, by far, are creatures. In that sense, we can consider that it is still Board Centric . And, it must be said, there are few potential victims at the range of 4 or 5 mana to Blade of Whiteplain , one of the cards that has had the most impact on the metagame since the release of Light's Verdict.
- A New mechanics ( Ally ) and a mechanic that I thought we would never see again is recovered: Armor. Oh, and a special system for getting some of the cards, in which the Forge will play a key role.
- Three tribes come out very strengthened : Olympians (both Light and War), Structures and Amazons . In addition, both Death (Nethers and, more specifically, Zombies) and Deception receive additional resources.
- A priori, everything points to the fact that the design team of Gods Unchained wants there to be More options for designing Control decks with a moderate budget. In fact, additional creatures are introduced with Leech and a couple of "star signings", as they could be candidates to fill the slot of Demogorgon and Thaeriel in the case of players who do not have access to those cards. I recommend that you keep an eye on Ember Oni and Hortuk, Fallen Commander .
¿What do you think What are your feelings ? It all sounds pretty good to me.
Who will emerge victorious? Reios and his allies or Hortuk and his malevolent hosts?
We'll still have to wait a little to find out... And here you will find the best information about it, as always.
