Gods Unchained - Play and Earn changes 2024

Gods Unchained is a collectible card game that is characterized by having "true ownership" of assets as the main value proposition for its community of users. As if this were not enough, it also has functionalities Play&Earn which is fair to note, as they play an important role in the progression of players. What are the objectives of these changes?

If you're a veteran, you're probably remembering the first pilot of Gods Unchained's Play&Earn system with Blessing of the $GODS, back in October 2021. The truth is that the official launch took place in August 2022 and has not changed until now, two years later. The adjustments that have been applied aim to solve several serious problems of which many players were not aware. Specifically:

  1. Drastically reduce extractive activity by Botnets which operated between ranks 1 and 6.
  2. Prevent abusive strategy by players who intentionally demoted themselves to use decks made up of very high-quality cards (Diamond) in the starting ranges. These players, who moved between ranks 1 through 6, have earned more $GODS daily than those in the higher ranks (including Mythic ) and, in addition, they have reduced the incorporation of new players.
  3. Motivate players to always try to ascend to the highest possible rank they can reach.

Well, here are the reasons for the measures adopted. Let us now see what has happened exactly.

What exactly do the changes introduced?

On August 20, 2024, the following were implemented: Three changes significant while affecting the daily play-to-earn (P2E) system:

  1. Formula Play&Earn revised for the calculation of Fragments.
  2. Game Modifier Adjustment which alters the impact curve for the different existing ranges.
  3. Introducing a New overall multiplier , which allows different "weights" for game modes and is intended to encourage participation in one or the other.

Main ideas to take into account

Aspects that you must keep in mind :

  1. Try to make sure that all the cards that make up your deck have, at least, Meteorite quality (the fact that there are quality cards " Plain ", even if it is only one, penalizes a lot).
  2. Fight for Always reach the highest rank you can . Also remember that Play&Earn is not activated in ranks 1 to 6 and that the really interesting starts from rank 8 onwards. In that sense, Meteorite-quality cards that are relevant to the current metagame will be better than higher-quality cards that aren't. Why? Because you'll be more competitive, you'll be able to get more wins, and reach higher ranks.
  3. Win games! He tries to reach at least a 50% winning percentage.
  4. Take advantage of game modes with higher multipliers (Here players will have to face the dilemma of choosing between their usual decks in the main game modes and perhaps lower quality decks in game modes with more attractive multipliers.)
  5. Be clear about the calculation formula and how each factor contributes to the generation of fragments.
