All Gods Unchained players, without exception, are familiar with the Collection Core . I think it makes sense to say that, in conjunction with the Welcome Collection, this is the collection that forms the backbone of the game. And Soon, everything is going to change . Yes, yes, everything is going to change, you read that right.
I'm JFA, from GU Masters, and I'll tell you about it below. Will you join me for Discover ?
Core Set Refresh – First quarter of 2022: what does it consist of?
If all goes according to plan by the Immutable team, a Full Review of the Collection Core , which will turn everything upside down. And, as if that were not enough, new cards will be included (and not a handful of them, but about 60 new cards).
The Immutable team announced through its official account on Reddit both the revision of the collection and its expansion, with two test days in the Public Test Realm (PTR). The following are the Links to the original publications :
- "PTR Play day – Core Set Refresh" . The truth is that they could have shared a spreadsheet to be able to "play" with the data, sorting it by different criteria (alphabetical order, god, tribe, mana cost, rarity, etc.), since I imagine that the Immutable team will manage this information in an orderly way, but hey... This is what we have, for the moment.
- "PTR Playday Starting 6pm 10th November PST 2021" . On this occasion we have two images as a summary table, which you will find below.

Are the list and the paintings a bit chaotic? You can consult a Simulation in images letter by letter In this post: "Core Cards image samples (refreshed and new cards)" .
By the way, if you have three hours, I highly recommend the review that CautionFun and TheMudMan do in the episodes 37 and 38 of Pods Unchained :
Core Set Refresh – First Quarter 2022: Conclusions
Carrying out an in-depth analysis of all the changes is not a trivial matter, since this collection has 259 cards at the moment and with the expansion it will comfortably exceed 300. However, it is worth noting Three key takeaways :
- Most neutral cards will no longer be neutral , since they will be assigned to a god. I suspect that the reason for this is that it is preferable to get a goal balanced, since the number of interactions of a neutral card, which can be included in any deck, is much greater than those offered by a card limited to a specific god. This simplifies the work of the team that is responsible for keeping the game in balance ( Balance ).
- Tribal synergies will be enhanced , since many cards that did not belong to any tribe will now do so.
- Many cards that were rarely used will change significantly , with the aim of making them useful.
An additional note: from my point of view, and this is nothing more than my personal opinion, I believe that in many cases the level of Power creep it is much higher than would be desirable. Consequently I'm confident that the power of cards that may be more problematic will be adjusted before the changes go live (which is what the PTR is for, after all).
What are your impressions? From my point of view, Gods Unchained is going to be very different And I believe that the proposed changes, as long as they are modulated in the right measure, are going to be very positive.
